Careys launches skills bootcamp for groundworkers

September 19, 2024

The courses in conjunction with the Department for Education (DfE) are designed for people looking to join the construction sector or existing groundworkers looking to move into a supervisor role and enhance their skills.

Careys will be hosting the courses at its Construction Campus but they are open to candidates from other contractors and all potential new recruits to the industry.

Funding will be provided by the DfE on a sliding scale depending on circumstances.

Careys Head of Resourcing, Social Value and Early Talent, Maddy Donaghy, said: “Construction is suffering from a shortage of skilled workers – over 250,000 extra workers will be required to meet UK construction output by 2028. Over 50,000 additional workers are required per year.

“The Construction Skills Bootcamp provides an excellent opportunity to develop a career as a groundworker, or for existing groundworkers looking to move into a supervisor role, and enhance their skills and develop a career, either at Careys or with another company in the industry.”

Two courses will available for general operatives and construction supervisors
