SANTA ANA, Calif., Feb. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — On February 1, 2025, SVA Architects joined The Whole Child and development partners for the Grand Opening of Safe Families Interim Housing and Support Services Center. Located at 10951 Laurel Avenue in Santa Fe Springs, this development is part of a trio of housing communities on a five-acre “homeless to homeowner campus,” consisting of interim transitional housing by The Whole Child, intergenerational affordable apartments by The Richman Group, and for-sale townhomes by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles. Designed by SVA Architects, the project demonstrates the firm’s aptitude in designing high-quality, affordable homes that offer residents stability and dignity.
Safe Families Interim Housing and Support Services Center
The Safe Families Interim Housing and Support Services Center offers housing for up to 40 families as they transition out of homelessness. Living units include full kitchens, furnishings, appliances, housewares, televisions, and more. The building’s first floor contains shared amenities for residents as well as supportive services for hundreds of The Whole Child’s clients, including a computer lab, laundry facilities, a food pantry, a playground and courtyard, treatment rooms for mental health services, and spaces for parenting and nutrition workshops.
Ernesto M. Vasquez, FAIA, Partner & CEO of SVA Architects, says, “Solving an immediate need for housing and services, and with permanent housing solutions just steps away, this center is a beacon of hope for struggling families. It’s an honor to be a part of a project that will help families regain independence and give children a brighter future.”
Partners
Funding partners for the development include Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, the State of California, the City of Santa Fe Springs, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez, Bezos Day One Fund, and Golden Rule Community Development Corporation, among others.
